In Kenya, the Ministry of Health developed an online sytem in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic to facilitate vaccination and distribution of covid 19 vaccine in the country. People could login in to the Ministry of Health’s portal and view their vaccination schedules as well as download their certificates. Through the portal, patients can access their vital signs, diagnoses, lab and imaging results, prescriptions and even schedule their appointment before visit to the facility all from the palm of their hands. Providing access to this crucial health information, has ensured patients are empowered and can take charge of their health especially where up to 50% of Kenyans are at risk of developing chronic conditions like diabetes or obesity many of which are preventable if warning signs are caught early.
